On the afternoon of May 15, 2021, the first sub-forum of the 11th Juris Master Growth Forum of the School of Juris Master in China University of Political Science and Law (CUPL) was held at the Lecture Hall of the Student Center of Changping Campus. The forum is themed on " Training Mode and Prospects of Foreign-Related Juris Master Talents". Cheng Jun, senior partner of Zhong Lun Law Firm, and Dong Xiao and Zhao Huili, partners of Beijing Anjie Law Firm, attended the forum as guests.Professor Han Wensheng, Party Secretary of the School of Juris Master, CUPL, presided over the forum.
Cheng Jun shared relevant cases relating to foreign-related natural resources and mining disputes, and proposed three essential abilities for legal practitioners: the first is the logical thinking ability to systematically sort out the cases; the second is the ability to demonstrate solid and reliable external image and personality; and the third is the ability to understand and empathize with others’ emotional needs. He also emphasized that lawyersspeciallyhandlingforeign-relatedmattersneed to strengthen the learning of industry knowledge and have a strong willingness to learn.
Later, Professor Han Wensheng had an in-depth discussion with Dong Xiao and Zhao Huili focusing on the theme of the forum. The two guests expressed their opinions on the specific types of foreign-related legal business, the focus and necessary qualities of selecting courses in foreign-related fields, the precautions when applying for jobs in foreign-related fields, studying abroad, and learning other minority languages. They shared their feelings about returning to their alma mater and also gave suggestions for career preparation to law students.
